"The Freshmen" is the episode where Blair throws a sushi and sake party to conquer NYU the way she conquered Constance and nobody comes. Georgina looks her in the eye and says: "Once upon a time in a far-off land, you were a queen. Here you are just a loser who will never fit in." Blair is standing in this dress when it happens. The outfit is immaculate, but it doesn't negate the insult.
The Briseux is from Victoria Beckham's Spring/Summer 2009 collection: only her second ever ready-to-wear line, presented privately to a small group of buyers at the Waldorf hotel. It originally retailed for £1,195 (~$2,200 today) at Net-a-Porter. The design takes its reference points from 1960s mod fashion: high mock neck, structured cap sleeves, A-line skirt. The violet silk gives it a formality that reads as deliberately, defiantly Upper East Side against a NYU backdrop.
